About the Process:
Shannon Wallack, created a set of 125 ceramic "Brixels." The surface of each brick was sculpted to create animated designs when photographed sequentially. Once Wallack created the set, animators Jak Ritger and K8 Howl, set on the task of bringing the Brixels to life. Working in Wallack's studio, the duo performed a range of stop-motion experiments to test the limits of the material. Using the song as inspiration, scenes where constructed with specific digital transformations in mind. The film is a playful dance between genres, moods, and film techniques.

Bringing ceramic bricks to life might sound impossible, but animators [Jak Ritger](http://www.jakritger.com/) and [K8 Howl](http://www.k8howl.com/) have transformed them into playful dancers in the stop-motion music video for "Oration" by [Gaps & Spaces](https://www.facebook.com/gapsandspaces), which premieres on The Creators Project today. The 125 clay &#x201c;[Brixels](http://www.brixelation.com/)&#x201d; that star in the film are the handiwork of artist [Shannon Wallack](http://shannonwallack.com/section/201552.html), who crafted each with a varying surface in order to "create animated designs when photographed sequentially."

The dance is set to the tunes of Chicago-based jazz musicians Greg Ward and Calleb Willitz, who together form Gaps & Spaces. Each Brixel will be available for purchase on their site for 5$. Take a deeper dive into the peaks and valleys of each unique clay sculpture, below:
