GIF and images viaDancer Gianna Gi knows how to use her body to make us uncomfortable. In New Babylon, a video performance by Gi that was written and directed by Jonas Hegi, she contorts her arms and angles her head in figurations that aren't beautiful examples of dancerly poise, but discomfiting examples of our bodies' capacity to contain tension. That's later on in the short performance film, though—at the beginning, she's wearing a sculptural hoodie that forces her movements to be bare and minimalist. The outfit, painted and frayed like canvas, is wearable art all its own, and we'll definitely be looking for it to hit the racks at Filene's next fall.Related:A Dance for ArchitectureThis Dance with Ghosts Will Haunt YouNosaj Thing & Daito Manabe Team Up with Dancing Drones
