Interactive Gesture Controlled Starbucks Storefront

Starbucks choose an intriguing way to promote their range of teas.

Is this the future of storefront advertising? This interactive window display has appeared in Starbucks coffee shops in Toronto and Vancouver. It offers an interactive, gesture controlled game of sorts, created by The Media Merchants. Users guide either a hummingbird, dragonfly or butterfly around to find all the ingredients to the different Tazo teas being promoted by Starbucks.

Creepy or cool? We’re not quite sure. It’s definitely bound to attract a few bemused but curious passers-by and, as far as advertising initiatives go, is an interesting foray into interactivity for the Starbucks brand. We appreciate the fact that it brings a bit of fun and whimsy to what is otherwise a droll, everyday morning routine, but it also reeks of Minority Report.
