Here’s a Peek Inside Claudia Mate's Instagram Diary

The new media artist's "work diary" is where she gets instant creative thrills.

Claudia Maté's new media art repertoire is as uncanny as it is diverse, ranging from an installation based on the aesthetics of finance, to subtly blinking GIFs of Kimye and the Snoop Dogg doll. Her brain is full to the brim with ways to reimagine familiar ideas with her signature Maté twist, and sometimes they overflow onto her truly wild Instagram account.

Maté calls her Instagram account her "work diary," a place where ideas from current projects can go to either grow, or become something else entirely. She opened the new year with a freewheeling video of a baby riding a cat, followed by a catwalk model showcasing digital lingerie. As simple as they seem, these videos are a necessary part of her creative process. She told The Creators Project:

"I started making these videos because they just relaxed me, with no commercial purpose to fit a clients request. I am free to do what I feel. I dont think too much about it; They start from simple ideas and are ready and published online after one or two hours. I really love instant things. Other kinds of works take a longer time to finish and publish so when you finally do, the thrill of the initial idea is kind of lost. My Instagram has become a place to rest from my work routine and do something chilled that really amuses me."

Check out some of Maté's surreal distractions, including a brand new lip-syncing avatar, below.
