Ski bunnies and abominable snowpeople, maybe, but high up in the Alps the last thing you might expect to encounter is Europe's tallest skyscraper. The 7132 Tower by Morphosis Architects is an ultra-thin hotel to be completed on a mountain in Vals, Switzerland come 2019. Its 107 guest rooms, ballroom, indoor pool, and even art gallery make it a major addition to the Vals resort, which already includes Peter Zumthor's Therme Vals spa, but its real feature is how it looks in the alpine mountain range. At 1,250' tall, the tower nearly disappears into the clouds above, and surpasses even Moscow's massive Federation: Vostok Tower in height.

"As much as possible, the hotel is a minimalist act that re-iterates the site and offers to the viewer a mirrored, refracted perspective of the landscape," Thom Mayne, Morphosis' Pritzker Prize-winning principal architect, said in a press release. "The combination of one-room-per-floor and a narrow floor-plate afford exclusive panoramic views of the Alps."7132 Tower is Morphosis first project in Switzerland.
