These Neon-Soaked Paintings Look Like Space Candy

Jim LePage’s abstract compositions capture movement within a static image.

No matter the artist, the paint brush has its own way of leaving behind impressions of their movement. Sometimes you can look at a painting and visualize the motion an artist might have done to make their mark, as in the vibrant abstract paintings of visual artist Jim LePage. Much like artist Donald Martiny, LePage appears to have a fascination with the brush stroke. His compositions look like intimate studies of movement wherein the artist creates a groove that casts paint in a certain direction, like a flag blowing in the wind.

On his website, LePage says abstract painting provides a creative escape for him. "I love the exploration of color and texture and how the mix of those can evoke different types of feelings and ideas," he explains. "I experiment with different paints, mediums and techniques and enjoy the surprise that comes from seeing them interact in new ways." These aggressive mergers create chaotic yet serene compositions that would catch the eye of anyone who might walk by them.
