Creators Remix Roundup Week 11

Featuring Sleigh Bells in the studio with Diplo; Peaches’ new muff; and Marcelo Camelo’s latest croon. This one’s a doozy…

Our Creators are a very talented and prolific bunch, and our inbox is always cluttered with alerts of new remixes and mashups from the incredible DJs and producers in our line-up. We just couldn't keep these fresh new tunes to ourselves because, after all, filesharing is caring. Here are our top picks from the past week.

Sleigh Bells: “Tell ’Em” (Diplo remix)

We’re going to let Diplo guest write this one since he explained it so well over on Mad Decent: Derek from sleigh bellz and me have matching florida tattoos and we both are from shitty parts of broward county // & their last album was one of the sickest of ’10 .. its soo sick, its gave me a stomach ache .. half lyrnyrd skinnard half bangladesh half man half alligator.. . me and derek and alexis are bros and sis for life… i really wanted to get it out to u guys cause i think the bass and the drums sounds nice and u can play it at your next party. Done! P.S. We heard there may be a Diplo, Beyoncé, and Sleigh Bells collaboration in the works. Stay tuned.

Tinchy Stryder: “Second Chance” (Cody Simpson remix)

It’s hard to believe that Australian teen pop idol Cody Simpson already needs a second chance at love, but all romantic assumptions aside, this former champion swimmer’s vocals aren’t half bad. The fact that one of Jay-Z’s producers hand picked him from the seas of YouTube also speaks tomes about his talent. We think it’s cool that he stopped remixing pop artists and chose a UK grime artist’s anthem instead.Amanda Palmer: “Map of Tasmania” ( The Young Punx club mix ft. Peaches)

When we saw this femme-fantastic video last week, we were not surprised to find out that Peaches lays down a rap in the remix video above. In fact, Amanda’s smart, provocative musical performance is just the kind of behavior Peaches lives to support. The Young Punx take this track and fix it for ravers and straightedge kids alike. Spolier Alert: Peaches wears her “triangle” on her face.

USK: “Kill Me Sweetly” (Sulumi remix)

What happens when another chiptunes artist remixes a chiptune? Frantic mania fit for electronic dance parties at Bowser’s Castle ensues. After listening, we’re impressed with how both artists can make 8-bit melodies sound so variable. We wonder if “Kill Me Sweetly” is a follow-up to USK’s “Shall We Date.” Tough chips.

Marcelo Jeneci: “Doce Solidão” (ft. Marcelo Camelo)

It’s rare that we come across new work from Marcelo Camelo, but it’s always a blissful moment when we do. Watch as Camelo lends vocals and accompaniment to Jeneci’s album Made to End in this intimate studio jam session.
