Jack White Wrote His First Children’s Book

What do you do after you've won 12 Grammys? You write a children's book, of course. Or, at least that's what Jack White did, announcing his literary debut with the upcoming release of We're Going to Be Friends, an illustrated children's book based on the The White Stripes' song of the same name. The book is illustrated by artist Elinor Blake, a former animator on Nickelodeon's The Ren and Stimpy Show as well as Pee Wee's Playhouse, who also releases music under the name April March. The infectious lullaby, written for the band's platinum-certified album White Blood Cells, has become an anthem for many ,thanks to a number of appearances in mainstream pop culture. The song was famously used in the opening credits to Napoleon Dynamite, was readapted by Jack Johnson for The Curious George soundtrack, and has been covered by numerous bands like Bright Eyes, among others.

The book is slated for release on November 7th by Third Man Books, the publishing arm of White's record label, and will include recordings of the original White Stripes song as well as adaptations by April March and the Woodstation Elementary School Singers.
