Weird Sex Metaphors Abound in the "Dark Tokyo" Music Video

What's the strangest metaphor for gettin' it on that you know? Making the beast with two backs? Gland-to-gland combat? What about melting your face into a tentacle monster then transforming into a swimming pool? That last one comes from the strange and wonderful mind of Adam Weissman, filmmaker and member of noveau vintage electronic outfit Pollyn.

Weissman directed their new animated video for "Dark Tokyo," from the self-released album [Distress Signals](https:// https://soundcloud.com/pollyn ), out on May 13. It follows a pair of strange and not quite human characters doing the dirty (we think?) in a dark Tokyo hotel room, with Pollyn's silk-soft sounds coating the ears, and then it gets weird.

"I knew I wanted melty, gooey sex and elongated mouths," Weissman tells The Creators Project. This aesthetic draws from Noah Butkus' artwork for the album. "I wanted the bodies to be melting together during a sexual encounter, which could be looked at as love or lust," he continues. "But when working on this I didn’t really think of either. I saw these two characters as bodies who needed to meet in this place and transform into a completely different person. It was more sci-fi than romantic. That was their mission. To meet up and bone in some hotel in Tokyo and form a new person, who would take the information they collected on earth and bring it back to the planet they are from. The sex is very surreal and not sexy, at least to me."

Weissman confirms that none of the pleasures of the flesh in this video are based on his real-life experience, as he's never done it with an alien. In light of even having to ask that question, we asked him how we're even supposed to feel after watching the thing. "I think you are supposed to be happy at the end," he responds. "The video is not supposed to give you nightmares. I guess how you react to the video might say something about how you feel about alien sex."
