Avey Tare Of Animal Collective Announces New Album, Releases Track

The project is called Slasher Flicks, including former members of The Dirty Projectors and Ponytail

Avey Tare (ne Dave Portner), of Animal Collective, is back with a new project, and it is has an amazing name. Meet Slasher Flicks, a super-trio including Angel Deradoorian of The Dirty Projectors and Jeremy Hyman of Ponytail.

The band just premiered its first song, "Little Fangs," the single from upcoming LP, Enter The Slasher House, which is out on April 8th via Domino Records.

Avey Tare and Animal Collective have been a longtime subject of The Creators Project. Not only did we focus on the band's augmented, experimental psychedelia in a doc called The Art of Animal Collective, but we interviewed the group on the making of its most recent LP, Centipede Hz.

Despite the new project's grisly name, "Little Fangs" is a bouncey one with a subtle guitar groove that sounds like it could have been an unreleased tracks from Talking Heads' 1980 classic, Remain In Light. Listen to the song below, and get ready for a sonic grindhouse of jams.
