Chart Westeros with This 3D Game of Thrones Map

Accurate and detailed maps are a hallmark of any good fantasy series, proof that the author has created a fully-realized world that functions on its own. J.R.R. Tokien's Middle-Earth in Lord of the Rings is the classic example, but George R.R. Martin aspires to Tolkien's world-building throne with Game of Thrones' Westeros. We saw how alluring his world could be when a Redditor made a Google Maps version of the Seven Kingdoms. Now, HBO has released a similar project with a map that you can actually navigate.

Using Facebook's 360° video as a platform, the show created a fully-explorable map of Westeros à la the Angus Wall-animated credits sequence longtime fans have ingrained into their retinas at this point. As the insanely catchy (and treacherous) theme song composed by Ramin Djawadi mentally prepares you for the next hour of murder, treachery, medieval politics, and magic, you can look around Wall's digital clockwork dioramas of Castle Black, King's Landing, Winterfell, Dorne, and the rest. Unfortunately, instead of that sweet bloody rush, you still have to wait until April 24 for a new episode.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24.
