Dancing Yrself Clean: Part Three Of Our Exclusive Video Series Surrounding SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS

THE SHOWS commemorates the magical moments shared while watching LCD SOUNDSYSTEM live. Catch SHUT UP

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM is one of those bands that can be credited with making dancing cool again, getting the stoic hipster kids writhing and sweating on the dance floor into the wee hours of the night. There’s something about their music that has the ability to stir up something deep within, spreading love and an infectious stream of energy that can only be released by shaking it out—hard. Their live shows are so memorable that we decided to dedicate an entire episode to THE SHOWS as part of our exclusive video series surrounding SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS in theaters one night only this Wednesday, July 18th.

SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS from Oscilloscope Laboratories and Pulse Films, is part concert documentary, spliced with Chuck Klosterman interviewing frontman James Murphy one week before LCD’s final show, plus footage of Murphy on the day after their last show. The film captures and commemorates the final moments of the band, and in a sense, a movement.

As one of the film’s executive producers, we filmed an exclusive video series surrounding SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS, produced and directed by Lance Bangs. In episode three, hear LCD’s fans and friends look back on some of their favorite shows including Lana Kim on how she couldn’t help but dance, comedian Nick Kroll on why he was banned from the shows (we’re still not sure why), Arcade Fire‘s Jeremy Gara on why he almost preferred hanging out with LCD than his own band, and Ashley Schuyler (one of our flyaway contest runners-up) on falling in love during the band’s show at Coachella 2011.

From wedding proposals, to getting peed on… anything could happen at an LCD show. The episode also features live footage of Reggie Watts performing onstage with the band (“one of the tightest bands I’ve ever heard”) during the final Madison Square Garden show.

Make sure to catch episode one: LCD + NYC, episode two: THE HITS, and pick up tickets to see SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS this Wednesday, July 18th.
