Dancers Reveal Their Inner Ninjas

Game-designer Mare Sheppard is breaking the fourth wall of video game design from the perspective of a ninja ricocheting and slinking through different levels of a minimal world. In her new game N++, the motion of the player is rhythmic, and the game moves to its soundtrack in ways reminiscent of a ballet.

To accompany the release of the game, Sheppard enlisted six dancers to visualise the motions of a ninja on screen. The photographs are titled Motion ++, and their aim is, “to show a diverse idea of what beauty is, to show speed and agility and inner ninjas externally manifested," Sheppard tells The Creators Project.

"I want to show the influence of dance and movement and art in our little platformer, to show the love we have for this game, and to show its depth.”
