If you've had your ear to the ground (the internet) then you're probably already familiar with British singer Raleigh Ritchie. His fresh-faced, loose-limbed R&B-pop has wrangled him opening slots with Kendrick, Angel Haze, and MØ. He's topped the Hype Machine twice and his debut single, "Stronger Than Ever," entered the UK charts and was covered by Lily Allen.Oh. And just FYI nerds: this guy's real name is Jacob Anderson and he played a character called Grey Worm in Game of Thrones. As the Brits would say "Phoar!" He looks pretty good in armor.But back to Raleigh, the 24-year-old singer. In truth, "Stronger Than Ever," is glossier than an otter's pelt. Much more to our taste is this new single, "Cuckoo," which is produced by Stefan Ponce (Childish Gambino, Chance The Rapper), and features a guest verse by spitfire teen rapper and Noisey favorite, Little Simz. Superfluous record scratching aside, Raleigh's latest is an excercise in clean-lined minimalism. Largely letting the boom-clap, eerie cuckoo, and his own elastic tones provide the hook, it's punctuated by the occasional, but perfectly necessary jazz-tinged wig out.
