Channeling the meditative quality of flowing water, Xiang Pu Zhu has animated a battery of colorful fluid animations in a project called Fu Liu. Inspired by the abstract animation work of creatives like Matthias Müller, the artist began practicing 3DS Max to bring a similar aesthetic to his Chinese heritage.

Xiang's sparse animation, relying on few particles to communicate the fluidity he is looking for, isn't just a creative decision, but a reaction to technology's limitations: "I planned to make fluidity, actually,” he tells The Creators Project. “But my laptop just couldn’t handle such a huge amount of particles, so it came out with either sandy or linear outcome. And I just turned its trick to my own use."
