Finally, There's a Dizzee Rascal Computer Game

Started from the bottom...

And it's kind of hard, too. 27-year-old graphic design student Daniel James recently unveiled Dizzee Heightz, a side-scrolling web game where you must attempt to maneuver this UK grime star to the top of a neon maze, while collecting Nike Air Max Trainers along the way. "The idea was to celebrate Dizzee Rascal as an artist," he told THUMP, "and to highlight his rise from… the streets of East London to becoming a Mercury Award-winning music star." In the game Dizzee climbs a typographic landscape that spells out "Cos I Climbed Dis Mountain Widout Rope," a line from his debut album Boy in Da Corner. When he reaches the top he claims his much-deserved Mercury Prize.

James made the game for a design contest initiated by XL Recordings, asking designers to highlight a significant moment from one of their artists' careers. "This is the first time I've ever attempted to make a video game," he admitted. "It's been a huge learning curve as by no means am I a game developer!" He says there are a few kinks here and there that he'd like to iron out in subsequent revisions of the game, but it's already fairly addictive as is. Maybe Dizzee will throw some dollars behind it and there will be an XBOX version before long. "I'd actually love to create a video game featuring all of the awesome MCs and producers in the grime scene, I think it'd be a huge hit," James muses. "So if anyone out there wants to help me with that then get in touch!"
